We are delighted to celebrate Lynda Thompson, who has just completed our Drawing and Painting Diploma with a well-deserved Distinction! Lynda came to painting during lockdown and has been hooked ever since, and after three years of dedication and hard work with tutor Paul Weaver, her stunning results speak for themselves. From luminous watercolour seascapes to richly textured abstract work and atmospheric oil landscapes, Lynda’s portfolio is a real joy to look through, and we could not be more proud to share it here.
What strikes you immediately about Lynda’s work is the wonderful range of it. She moves confidently between watercolour and oils, and between the representational and the more expressive, and she brings something distinctive to each. Her coastal and landscape watercolours are particularly beautiful, capturing the light and atmosphere of rocky shorelines, misty Scottish hillsides and open water with a real sense of feeling for the subject. There is a lovely looseness to these pieces, an ease that speaks to someone who has truly found their artistic voice.
Equally impressive is her abstract work, where deep blues and golds dance across the canvas with real energy and confidence. It is the kind of painting that stops you in your tracks, and it is a wonderful testament to how far Lynda has travelled as an artist. A Distinction after three years of committed study is a fantastic achievement, and we are so glad she stuck with it.
Huge congratulations to Lynda, and our thanks to tutor Paul Weaver for his support throughout. If you would like to find out more about our Drawing and Painting Diploma, we would love to hear from you!
