Weekend Art Challenge – Colours of Autumn Trees

In this art challenge, you will explore the vibrant and captivating beauty of autumn trees. The changing colours of leaves during the autumn season create a stunning visual spectacle. Your task is to capture the essence of autumn trees through your painting or drawing.

Challenge Guidelines:

  1. Research and Inspiration:
Start by researching different types of autumn trees, such as maple, oak, birch, or any other trees known for their vibrant autumn foliage. Look for reference images that showcase the variety of colours and shapes of autumn leaves.
  2. Composition and Perspective:
Plan your composition and decide how you want to portray the autumn trees. Consider the perspective, whether you want a close-up view of individual leaves or a broader scene with a landscape featuring multiple trees.
  3. Colour Palette:
Explore the rich and warm colours of autumn. Experiment with various shades of red, orange, yellow, brown, and even touches of green or purple. Create a harmonious color palette that reflects the beauty of fall foliage.
  4. Textures and Details:
Pay attention to the textures and details of the leaves, bark, and branches. Experiment with different brushstrokes, pencil techniques, or blending methods to add depth and realism to your artwork.
  5. Mood and Atmosphere:
Consider the overall mood and atmosphere you want to convey in your piece. Autumn is often associated with a sense of tranquility, nostalgia, or even mystery. Use your artistic skills to evoke emotions through your depiction of the trees.
  6. Expressive Interpretation:
While realism is an option, feel free to interpret the autumn trees in your own unique style. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different artistic techniques or add your personal touch to make the artwork truly yours.

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.
