Weekend Art Challenge – London

Welcome to the results of our latest weekend art challenge, all on the theme of London! We have some fantastic images this week, our featured image being of a Route Master Bus by student Nina Phillips. We love it! It’s so iconic.

Equally Julie Smalley has illustrated the word London along the river Thames. Very clever and works exceedingly well.

We hope you enjoyed this challenge. Stay tuned for the next challenge coming tomorrow!

Where would London be without the Thames? I love to see the waterside, plus all the architecture the capital has to offer. I did around 12 roughs before this (very simple) finished illustration, wanting the word London to be as looped as the river itself.

This week is a combination of paintings under the heading of ‘London: Changeless but Changing’
The picture on the left is after my first trip to London when I was 9.
The picture on the right, just completed, is a quick water mixable oil sketch 68 years later. I’ll leave the maths to you!\
