We are delighted to share some wonderful work from Sarah Henbest, who is studying our Graphic Design Art Diploma Course. We don’t often get the chance to feature graphic design work on the blog, so this is a real treat, and Sarah’s submissions are a brilliant reminder of just how broad and exciting this discipline is.
What is immediately striking about Sarah’s work is the range and versatility on display. From hand-drawn pencil studies through to polished digital design, she is clearly developing a strong command of the full graphic design toolkit, and each piece shows a confident understanding of how visual communication works across very different contexts.
Her packaging studies are particularly impressive. A hand drawn exploration of soup packaging in different formats, boxes, cans and cartons, demonstrates a solid grasp of three dimensional form and how lettering and branding sit on curved and angular surfaces. Alongside this, her digitally designed perfume packaging for a brand called Scented Sincerely is a beautifully considered piece of commercial design work, with a sophisticated colour palette moving from deep black through coral pink to warm yellow, a striking floral logo mark and confident typographic choices that give the brand a real sense of identity and personality.
Her logo design work shows the same thoughtfulness. A floristry logo for Stems Florets combines elegant hand-drawn botanical illustration with clean, confident typography to create something that feels genuinely professional and market-ready. Her typography studies, exploring logos for businesses as varied as a children’s clothing brand, a law firm, a technology company and a jewellers, demonstrate a real understanding of how typeface, layout and visual tone must work together to communicate the right message for each very different audience.
Graphic design is a discipline that sits at the intersection of art and communication, and Sarah is clearly embracing every aspect of it. We look forward to seeing more of her work as the course continues.
