Weekend Art Challenge Results

Welcome to the results of our latest Weekend Art Challenge, where we set our students the wonderfully open task of creating artwork inspired by the letter H. It is always a joy to see where a single letter can lead, and this week our students took it in the most imaginative directions, proving just how many possibilities can spring from one simple prompt.

The range on show has been an absolute delight. We have hills, huts and harbours, a hat and handbag, a hand study, and even a portrait gathering up hat, head, hair and hands all at once. On the wildlife side there is a hornbill, a hyena, a hound and a hog, each brimming with character. There is a real sense of travel running through the collection too, with scenes from New Zealand, Sydney, Hvar and Kenya, and a lovely variety of mediums including watercolour, pastel, pencil and acrylic.

Thank you to everyone who took part and shared such thoughtful, inventive work. We hope you enjoyed this one as much as we did, and do stay tuned, because a brand new Weekend Art Challenge will be posted here tomorrow. We cannot wait to see what you create next.

H is for Hills
Queenstown hills, New Zealand, I did with watercolours on Fabriano CP paper 7×10” (direct observation) from my hotel room. The water is lake Whakatipu.
