Many artists believe that they need to constantly find new subjects in order to improve. While variety has its place, repetition can be incredibly valuable.
Drawing the same subject more than once allows you to notice what you missed before. Each attempt builds understanding and confidence, even if the changes feel subtle.
Repetition removes some of the pressure of decision-making. When the subject stays the same, you can focus on observation, technique or approach instead of starting from scratch each time.
It can also be reassuring to see improvement happen gradually. Small shifts in accuracy, confidence or clarity often become more obvious when you revisit the same subject.
Repeating a subject is not boring. It is one of the most effective ways to learn.
