We are absolutely delighted to celebrate Karin Clark, who has just completed our Landscape Painting Diploma with tutor Paul Weaver. Karin lives on the shores of the River Clyde in Scotland, where she tells us every view from her windows is just asking to be painted, and looking at her wonderful body of work, we can only agree!
Karin came to the course having already completed our Drawing and Painting Diploma, and it is clear that her time studying with us has given her both the skills and the confidence to tackle subjects with real ambition and variety. Her Scottish landscapes and seascapes are breathtaking, capturing the drama and light of the west coast with bold, energetic brushwork and a wonderful sense of atmosphere. A sweeping coastal scene with tumbling clouds sits alongside a striking painting of the iconic Finnieston Crane on the Clyde, a subject that speaks to a deep connection with her home and its history.
But Karin’s work doesn’t stop there. Lush, light-filled garden scenes painted with joyful colour sit alongside a wonderfully imaginative piece of tulips growing from vases in the sea, and a warmly rendered African village scene that shows real storytelling instinct. That circular garden painting, bursting with flowers and reflections, is something quite special. This is a body of work full of life, feeling and genuine artistic curiosity, and it reflects someone who has not just learned techniques but has truly found her voice.
Karin has kindly shared her thoughts on completing the course, and we think they say it all…
“I have finally completed the course and I have enjoyed it so much. I have just loved hearing your very constructive and helpful feedback. I have learned so much from you and I truly appreciate your time and encouragement. I have really enjoyed this final assignment. I am sorry to have come to the end of the course.”
We are sorry to see you go too, Karin! Huge congratulations, and our warmest thanks to tutor Paul Weaver. If you would like to find out more about our Landscape Painting Diploma, we would love to hear from you!
