Weekend Art Challenge Results

Welcome to our latest Weekend Art Challenge results, and what a wonderful collection of work we have to share! This week we set our students the task of creating artwork on the subject of the letter L, and the response was delightfully varied. From leopards and lemurs to lilies, leaves and linnets, our students threw themselves into the challenge with real imagination, exploring a wide range of subjects and mediums along the way. We hope you enjoy browsing this lovely, L-filled gallery as much as we enjoyed receiving it!

We had the pleasure of watching this bird and mate feeding their chicks in our clematis and my husband spent some time photographing them, this was copied from one of those. Beak stuffed with insects.

L is for lemur. This is a ring tailed lemur, drawn in pencil with watercolour background.

Inspired by the delicate works of Nishi Yamahoen, I have captured this bird—which bears a striking resemblance to a Linnet—within a world of my own color palette. While the hues are my personal interpretation, the piece serves as a subtle homage to Oscar Wilde’s ‘Linnet’ from The Selfish Giant, representing the first song of spring and the triumphant return of life.
