Weekend Art Challenge – Harbour Life

For this week’s challenge, we are heading to the harbour! Whether it is the vibrant bustle of a busy fishing port, the gentle stillness of a quiet marina, or the rustic charm of weathered jetties, harbours are full of artistic inspiration.

Think of colourful fishing boats bobbing on the tide, piles of lobster pots drying in the sun, and ropes coiled neatly on the dock. You might capture the reflections shimmering on the water, the textures of worn wood and rusted metal, or the characterful buildings that line the waterfront.

This theme offers endless possibilities, from lively scenes filled with movement and activity, to peaceful moments that invite you to pause and take in the surroundings. You could focus on fine details, like the curve of a mooring rope or the sparkle of sunlight on ripples, or step back and create a sweeping view of the whole harbour.

We cannot wait to see your interpretations of Harbour Life. Send us your artwork in any medium, painting, drawing, mixed media, or even sculpture and we will share your work here on the blog next week.

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.

So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!

Remember to submit your artwork to us via email if you would like it posted on our blog next week.

Email your artwork to us for inclusion on the blog next week. We sometimes take challenge posts submitted to our Facebook group to add to the collection, however we may miss some, so if you really want to see your work here, make sure you email it to us!
