Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating artwork on the subject to draw or paint the view from your window. Whether it was a garden, a street scene, or the neighbour’s cat, the idea was to capture what you see in your everyday life.
We received a wide variety of artwork which were beautifully calm and serene. Some of them even gave us a little glimpse into our students world. We particularly liked Judith’s Squirrels painting, it looks like the birds have some competition on the feeders!
Thank you to everyone who took part. We really enjoyed seeing your views, and as always, a brand new challenge will be posted tomorrow.
Mary-Ann HThis artwork is from the Science Fiction and Fantasy course—it’s called “Mermaid City” and it’s a fantasy take on the prompt. ArianaIt’s the coursework I was preparing for the Drawing & Painting Diploma, so it isn’t actually ‘my’ window view, but we can all dream! Andy E
This is my contribution to the weekend challenge. More of a state of mind than a view. Soft pencil on white paper. Linn
I live in Norway and have a panoramic view of Hafrsfjord from my living room window. I took a Sumi e Chinese painting course with London Art College a number of years ago. I saw this view one morning and thought it looked like a sumi e painting. After I took a photograph, I worked with it in Photoshop and managed to make it look even more painterly. Emma Alexander AMy window view with watercolour in visual watercolour book, Winsor and Newton. I did from observation. Ni NiThis is not my window. It is from my course book unit 18, original was painted by Frank Sherwin. I did earlier as coursework but I’d like to re-do it. So, I did again with watercolour on A4 size watercolour CP paper, Bockingford 300 gsm. Ni NiWindow View Ozlem EOne more window view: I visited a historic house near my house. It is one small window view from that house. Old garden with neighbourhood houses and background trees. A pair of gloves on window sill includes. A quick line and wash with watercolour. Acrylic pens, children’s paint and a drawing pencil Nina PThey only stayed a few minutes, but long enough for me to get the photo.
