Weekend Art Challenge – Rainbows

Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge. This week the theme was based on ‘Rainbows’. Students had free reign on this one, so they didn’t have to create the idealistic view of a rainbow, the choice was theirs. We have received some amazing pieces of work with rainbows incorporated into very creative pieces of artwork.

We very much love the watercolour created by Kelley Brautigam, showing an autumnal rainbow. We have used it as our featured image today and you can scroll down to see it in full.

Congratulations to everyone who took part this week, some beautiful pieces. Keep up the great work as it really does help with your improvement. Drawing and painting things that you wouldn’t normally do, can make you think outside the box and might even inspire you to broaden your horizons when choosing what to paint in the future.

We hope that everyone enjoyed this challenge. Stay tuned for a new Weekend Art Challenge posted here tomorrow.

My own weekend challenge – Rainbow lettering – this font used to be part of Word Art and it disappeared into the mists of time…I frequently get a weekend challenge from my bridge club…Audrey, can you do something to illustrate being polite at the bridge table…? (The lady is a reference to ‘When I Am Old I Will Wear Purple’.)

Something simple. A teddy bear with the background of a rainbow using dry watercolour pencils.

I love the light when it makes a rainbow and falls on a certain spot.

Also this happened, thanks for the art challenge, always interesting to see what comes around when you have no idea.

My interpretation is: Rainbows in the Landscape…..particularly in the autumn months. 🙂 This is watercolor.
