Karin Walda

At the beginning of lockdown in March 2020 my 94-year-old mother had come to live with me. I was looking for something that we could do together and came up with drawing and / or painting. Although my mother did not really take to it, I discovered how versatile coloured pencils could be.

I also looked online and saw the amazing work some artists had produced with coloured pencils so I decided that I would like to learn how to use coloured pencils to create art. As a result, I enrolled in the Coloured Pencil drawing certificate taught by Monika Cilmi.

I have learnt so much over the last 6 months and it certainly has lessened the frustrations of being locked down. I have a degree in archaeology which meant that I had been trained to do technical drawings of artefacts, but I had never used colour, so this course was absolutely brilliant for me. Monika has been so encouraging I have really enjoyed this course and can recommend it to anyone considering taking it.

  2. Thank you for your comment. I visited Bamburgh on a cycling holiday and its such an iconic place I had to try to capture it. Many thanks. Karin
