First of all, I would like to say that I am really delighted by the opportunity to write a blog post about my experiences on the Graphic Design Art course.

At the time when I started this course, I was working as an office worker, which was very unfulfilling work and therefore I decided to try this course to learn more about graphic design and to find out, if it would be good area for me to possibly work in.

During this course, I have learned a lot about various aspects of the graphic design, tried new tools and methods of art (both traditional and digital). I received very kind and informative feedback from my tutor Vanessa Weaver and what is the most precious to me… I have found a really great friend Nahrain Michael (another student of this course, who finished it with distinction in January 2018). She was supporting and encouraging me during the whole course and I believe that without her I would be still stuck at the beginning. So, before continuing, I would like to take advantage of this post and express my thanks to her, because she really deserves it. Thank you very much for everything, dear Nahi!

For this blog, I have chosen four works that mean a lot to me, because they remind me how much I have learned thanks to this course. The first one is a vase with roses with dark background drawn by ink pens. I was trying something like that for the first time and I had absolutely no idea about the final outcome. So I was surprised how it actually turned out.

The second one is a poster illustration advertising holidays in France (ink pen and watercolours). I like the outcome and I enjoyed the process of creation despite the fact that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to working with colours.

The last two works I have decided to include are from the last submission (a poster for an art exhibition called ‘Art of drawing hands’ and a magazine advert for a company called ‘Mother Nature’) and have been created digitally in Affinity Designer. They both remind me that I am able to do well even digitally, which is something I did not believe in when I started this course.

In summary, I am really happy that I have found this course and also found a courage to start it. It enriched my life in many ways. And even though I have no idea, if I will ever be able to work as a graphic designer, I have at least found a style of art that suits me really well and which I want to master from now on and that is ‘ink pen drawing’.
