Thushara Mendis is currently working towards gaining her Landscape Diploma by studying our Landscape Painting Online Art Course. The course is tutored by artist and mentor Alan Dedman. The paintings below are part of many Thushara submitted for submission. The Painting below is three separate canvases which as a result can be either viewed as single paintings or hung together to create one large canvas. Thushara said….
This is done using the acrylic paint. This landscape is done in the West Sussex in using the land full of bluebells. One section of the land is lit up by lovely sunshine which is coming through the trees, another part of the land half way is lit up by sun light and half is covered with thick trees and bushes. The third part is mostly covered with thick forest and hardly sunlight has fallen in that ground. I did this painting connecting three canvases to gather. I think I managed to as I wished.
The second painting below is another oil painting by Thushara. We like the way Thushara has used a limited pallet, particularly in the bottom section of the painting which is almost monochrome. Most of all it makes for a very dynamic and eye catching painting.
This was created with oil paint, which was done in the Morden Park during the winter. I really enjoyed doing this painting specially the sky and the surrounding area.
We would like to congratulate Thushara on creating two fabulous paintings for her landscape painting online art course. We hope they have been an inspiration for our students. Why not visit your local park to do some sketching and painting? Take your camera to record the day so you can work on your paintings back in the studio. Watercolours or Acrylics are good mediums to take out and about with you as they dry quickly and are easy to carry. Also pencils, coloured pencils and pastels work well too.
