I have been using coloured pencils for a number of years, but in particular, I have trouble illustrating trees in the landscape, and I am prone to scribble when making a mark which tends to make detail look scruffy.\u00a0 I am therefore hoping that the discipline needed to complete of this course will tighten my work.  I tend to use Derwent Coloursoft, or Faber-Castell Polychromos, but have recently experimented with the Derwent Artist range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cup and Spoon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Both versions are on A4 size 200 gsm cartridge paper.\u00a0 Derwent Coloursoft were used for the colour version. The set-up was in \u2018normal\u2019 living-room lighting, but supplemented by the use of a table lamp positioned on the right.\u00a0 In the graphite version I played about with the layout of the folds in the tea towel, but ignored the texture on the background cloth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"648\" height=\"969\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Alan-McMahon-cp.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Alan-McMahon-cp.jpg 648w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Alan-McMahon-cp-201x300.jpg 201w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Alan-McMahon-cp-300x449.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px\" \/><figcaption>Cup &amp; Spoon:\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pepper &amp; Banana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Both versions are on A3 size Winsor &amp; Newton Bristol Board.&nbsp; The set-up was on a highly reflective dining table, but in a shaded room.&nbsp; No additional lighting was used.&nbsp; The graphite version is wider than the colour version, which I decided to crop at the sides in order to (hopefully?) improve the composition.
