Welcome to this week’s Weekend Art Challenge results, where we asked our students to explore the theme of Seaside Finds. What a beautiful collection of work came in! The seaside has long been a beloved subject for artists, and it is easy to see why when you look at the wonderful pieces submitted this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shells were the star of the show, and what a variety of approaches students took to capturing them. Catherine submitted two pieces, a closely observed scallop shell in fine liner and watercolour, painted with such care that you can see the subtle colours of sand and sea within it, and a lovely sketchbook page of shells gathered on a trip to the Welsh coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lynda gave us two paintings as well, shells and driftwood both rendered in watercolour and fine liner with real delicacy, and Ni Ni contributed two pieces of her own, one in acrylics showing shells nestled among pebbles, and a second in watercolour. Anne-Marie also sent in a pair of watercolour paintings, doubling our seaside delight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karin F brought her characteristic freshness to a watercolour collection of seaside finds, Jeff C worked in his lovely combination of pencil, ink and watercolour, Ozlem created an evocative coastal scene inspired by Caparros, and Sandi H and Justyna P both produced beautifully atmospheric watercolours. Nina P rounded things off in her wonderfully playful style, combining chalk pastel pencils and acrylic pens with a sea creature background, stickers and a touch of glitter for good measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been such a treat to see the seaside through so many different eyes this week. Thank you to everyone who took the time to pick up their brushes and share their work with us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I drew a picture of a seashell. I used chalk pastel pencils and acrylic pens to colour it in.
To add to the seaside effect I used appropriate sea life background along with sticker sea creatures and glitter.
