What a beautiful collection of work came in for this week’s colour challenge! We asked our students to create something using blue, green and yellow, and they truly rose to the occasion, bringing us a wonderful variety of subjects and styles united by that fresh, vibrant palette. Birds, blooms, landscapes and more all made an appearance, worked in watercolour, oils, pen, silk and mixed media, and the results are simply stunning. It is always fascinating to see how differently a shared colour palette can inspire so many unique creative visions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a vivid macaw and a delicate blue tit to Van Gogh-inspired irises and a striking piece of Japanese art on silk, the subjects our students chose were as varied and imaginative as the techniques they used to bring them to life. It was wonderful to see students experimenting freely within the constraints of the palette, with some working from personal reference, some drawing on artistic tradition, and others simply gathering whatever materials were to hand and seeing where the colours led them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A colour challenge like this is a brilliant exercise in creative thinking, and it is clear from these submissions that our students embraced it wholeheartedly. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and shared their work with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a long time since I last submitted a drawing for the Challenge – things have been very hectic here, and I don’t know how the time has flown by so fast.
Here are some slices of Turkish pizza that I had yesterday, which\u00a0I tried drawing in blue, green & yellow – fortunately the original item looked a lot more appetizing!
