Welcome to our Weekend Art Challenge Results, and what a treat we have in store this week! Baby animals, can you think of a more lovely subject? Our students couldn’t resist and the results are absolutely wonderful, with a variety of creatures, mediums and styles all united by that irresistible theme of new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted to share this week’s submissions, and we have to say, the very first piece stopped us in our tracks. A baby alligator hatching from its egg, created digitally with such confidence in the linework and shading, it is a genuinely striking image. What makes it even more special is the story behind it, as Debbie is new to digital illustration and used this challenge as a way to practise her skills. Growing through creative challenges is exactly what the Weekend Art Challenge is all about, and this piece is a brilliant example of what can be achieved when you simply give something a go.

Here is my art challenge submission. Fish aren’t exactly known for being cute like other baby animals, but I wanted to showcase the stunning juvenile emperor angelfish (though I did give it a big cartoonish eye to make it cuter). It’s unlike anything else – even its adult form, which is dramatically different. Ink, watercolour, and acrylic.
