Our final challenge of November was all about cats, and what a wonderful selection of artwork we have received! From portrait and characterful sketches to lively, mischievous studies, our students have truly captured the spirit of these much loved animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cats make such fascinating subjects, their sleek shapes, expressive eyes, and endless variety of poses give artists so much to explore. This week\u2019s entries show that perfectly, with pieces ranging from delicate pencil drawings and soft watercolours to bold, painterly works full of energy and texture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to thank everyone who took part in this challenge and indeed, all of our students who have joined in the Weekend Art Challenges throughout the year. Your creativity, effort, and enthusiasm have been inspiring to see week after week. Next week we have something slightly different for our weekend art challenges for December. May I introduce my common-or-garden but beloved (and, regrettably no long with us) black cat, Coco, complete with white paws, chin, chest and tummy; I think all we’ve seen so many just like her.
I drew this one of her some time ago in ink in a little drawing I call ‘Urban Panther’. She loved climbing onto my lap and sleeping there beyond the time my legs had themselves fallen asleep.
