We are very pleased to share some recent work by Arpapatch Sari, who is studying on our Botanical Painting Diploma Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this assignment, Arpapatch explored fruit and vegetables \u2013 a subject she admitted she had not drawn before, as she usually enjoys painting flowers. She began with a pear but wasn\u2019t satisfied with the result, so she moved on to a bell pepper and then an apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her bell pepper study shows a lovely clear form with great attention to the smooth surface of the skin. Arpapatch reflected that she found the shadows and edges a challenge, but this practice clearly helped prepare her for her next piece. The apple painting is beautifully observed, with wonderful colour blending and a convincing sense of light reflecting across its surface. The added detail in the leaves and stem brings the study to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is always exciting to see students stepping outside of their comfort zones and learning from each stage of the process. Arpapatch\u2019s notes show her thoughtful approach to both lighting and shadow, and it\u2019s clear she is growing in confidence with each painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations, Arpapatch, on your progress and for creating such a beautiful set of botanical studies. We look forward to seeing more of your work as the course continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
