This weekend we are inviting you to think small\u2026 very small! The theme is \u201cMiniature Worlds.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your task is to create a tiny drawing or painting no bigger than a postcard. You can use any medium you like \u2013 pencil, watercolour, ink, acrylics, pastels, or even collage. The challenge is to see how much detail, atmosphere, or imagination you can fit into a very small space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an extra fun twist, we would love you to photograph your artwork from above with something beside it for scale \u2013 perhaps a pencil, a coin, or your hand \u2013 so we can all see just how miniature your artwork really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You could paint directly on the back of an old postcard, create a scene that looks like a postcard, or even design a postcard from an imaginary place. Whether you choose a landscape, still life, portrait, or abstract design, the key is to celebrate the magic of working small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutor\u2019s Tip:<\/strong> Working in miniature encourages you to simplify your ideas and focus on the essentials. Try planning your piece with a quick thumbnail sketch first, so you know exactly what you want to include before you begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cannot wait to see your tiny works of art and how you capture a whole world on something no bigger than a postcard!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.

So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!

Remember to submit your artwork to us via email if you would like it posted on our blog next week.

Email your artwork to us for inclusion on the blog next week. We sometimes take challenge posts submitted to our Facebook group to add to the collection, however we may miss some, so if you really want to see your work here, make sure you email it to us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All students can take part and they can post their artwork on our main Facebook Group<\/a> to share with fellow students.

Please only post new artwork that you have created specifically for the challenge.

For those who are new to our challenges, we post them every Friday, so that students have a chance to pick up their pencils, pens, brushes or tablets to create artwork in their downtime over the weekend.

The results are the posted here on our blog on the following Thursday.
