We only had a small number of entries for this weekend\u2019s challenge, as a technical issue meant the post did not go out on time. That said, the submissions we did receive are well worth sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first painting by student Ni Ni is a lovely autumn woodland scene, full of rich colour and warmth. There\u2019s great use of texture in the trees and a real sense of depth in the path leading through the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second piece by Ozlem is a delicate watercolour of bellflowers. The colours are soft and natural and the background has a subtle painterly feel that suits the subject beautifully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we had a video submission from Alicia which we hope that you can all view within our post below. Thank you Alicia! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recently did with oil using a reference photo from a blog of LAC for something orange challenge. I threw in colours not detail painting. I hope you like it. It is on a small canvas 10×12 inch. I didn\u2019t post at the time as I couldn\u2019t finish on time.

I enjoyed to paint these bellflowers very\u00a0much. I used Japanese Watercolour on Washi paper.
The Chinese Bellflower played a role in Japanese myth and folklore. There, the flower is also known as kikyo, which means pentagram. The balloon flowers\u2019 five-pointed blossoms stand for the five elements of the Tao, which include wood, water, fire, earth, and fire.

A short animated\u00a0slideshow that I’ve posted on YouTube. It’s entitled “To Dream with Squirrels” with about 60 of my drawings set to music, telling a sort of story. For me it represents a real turning point, because music has always been a huge source of inspiration\u00a0for me in my artwork, and this was the first time I’ve made an animation like this.
