This weekend’s art challenge was to draw or paint something beginning with the letter J. Students had complete freedom with subject, style and medium, as long as it clearly linked to the theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a great mix of ideas from jellyfish, jaguars, jam jars, jugs and a jigsaw puzzle! Even an incredibly old jug found in antarctica. Scroll down to see Linn’s drawing of it. Some artists chose to work in colour, others in pencil or ink. Every piece showed thought and care in how the subject was approached and presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to everyone who took part. We really enjoy seeing the creative ways you respond to each theme. A new challenge will be posted tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

this is a bit off beat for the weekend challenge of ‘J’ – I have used an old watercolour I did a couple of years ago and made it into a Jigsaw

This painting is made using watercolour paint and watercolour pencil. I like how the different colours show through. I used the watercolour pencils to show some definition to the shapes, but toyed not using the pencils to make it more abstract.
