This weekend\u2019s challenge was to draw or paint a tiger, and our students really rose to the occasion. From pen and ink wash work to bold colour studies, each artwork had its own character. Some captured the strength and movement of these big cats in full poses, while others focused on the heads with expression and detail. It\u2019s great to see so many different approaches to the same subject and the results were ‘roaringly’ good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to everyone who joined in this week. We loved seeing all of your tiger pieces, and a brand new challenge will be posted tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had made this Tony Tiger mask a while ago, and I added some fashionable glasses, since Tony’s getting a bit on in years and maybe he doesn’t see as well as he used to.

Here\u2019s a tiger for this weeks challenge, made using ink and watercolour. It\u2019s down from one of the reference photos that was included in the challenge.

I choose to draw the longdan tiger( the oldest tiger that lived 2 million years ago) I\u2019ve used children\u2019s paint and acrylic pens.

Couldn\u2019t get one eye right, so necessity being the mother of invention I created a palm collage to cover it. Chalk and charcoal on pastel paper. Will try to improve the eye another time.
