Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we would like to challenge our students to create a piece of artwork of just one single flower. This can be a ‘cut to white’ piece, simply drawn on a white piece of paper with no background. You could create a single flower on a black piece of paper in pastels for instance using the black paper as your background. Or alternatively you could perhaps paint in acrylics and create a blurry green, grassy background and have the flower in focus standing off from the background. Or what about a really tall sunflower looking up at it with a beautiful blue sky behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are so many options and ideas for this challenge. Don’t feel you have to overthink it. It can be a really simple study but still have plenty of detail and colour with a dynamic feel for the composition. Have a look at some of the photos that we have added below for reference. To use them as they are copyright free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.

So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!

Remember to submit your artwork to us via email if you would like it posted on our blog next week.
