Instead of depicting recognizable subjects, abstract artists use shapes, colours, and forms to express emotions, ideas, and other intangible concepts. We thought our students would appreciate a blog post about the evolution of abstract art, from its early pioneers to mid-century developments and contemporary movements, highlighting key artists and their influential works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early Pioneers<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The early 20th century saw the emergence of abstract art, with artists seeking new ways to represent the world around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wassily Kandinsky<\/strong>: Often considered the father of abstract art, Kandinsky believed that art should evoke emotions in the viewer through color and form, much like music does. By dripping and splattering paint onto a canvas laid on the floor, Pollock created dynamic, energetic compositions that emphasized the act of painting itself.
