Welcome to the results of the first weekend art challenge of the year. A massive thank you to each and every one of you who took part! We couldn’t be more delighted with the beautiful abstract artworks you’ve created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, we want to give a special shout-out to Catharine Thompson, whose artwork we have chosen as our featured image. Catharine’s piece stood out for its unique interpretation of nature’s elements. We absolutely love her choice of a limited colour palette, the skilful wet-in-wet washes, and the thoughtful design elements incorporated into the painting. We are thrilled to feature it as our highlight this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is my second and final piece for the challenge. It is a mixed media collage based on a photo that my daughter sent me when she went to Kew Gardens!! I have added the daisy to the centre, to show that you don\u2019t have to be an exotic plant to shine like a star!!!!

Here is my piece for this weekend\u2019s challenge. It is watercolour collage – based on some woods near my home. I painted the background with splashes of watercolour and also painted other paper in browns and greens for the trees, background and foreground which I tore to shape and stuck on – the leaves are pure collage.
