We want to extend a thank you to all students who took part in this weekend’s art challenge – Nordic Tales. All of the submitted paintings, drawings, and ink work showcase the magic of Nordic folklore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our featured image this week is by student Julie Smalley, and her work stood out to us! With it lovely design featuring gnomes and pretty patterns, along with the clever use of mirroring to duplicate the image, we felt it was enchanting! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyones work is beautiful and all of the pieces submitted carry a unique story. Just what we were looking for. We can’t wait to see what you will all bring to the next challenge! Stay tuned till tomorrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see Mia is very fox like, and has been mistaken for a fox and a deer in the past!

What a wonderful – and very new to me – weekend challenge. I decided to express my own Nordic narrative, having spent most of last month in Norway. There I searched for a lucky little ‘nisse’ character to bring home. (He therefore has centre-place.) I marvelled at the midnight sun in June, the ‘gingerbread’ houses, the wavy seas, and of course the voyaging\u00a0Queen Victoria.\u00a0<\/em>So here are some holiday highlights, in Scandi folk art! Happily, this design is repeatable!!
