Welcome to our latest art challenge all about designing wallpaper. We asked our students to think outside the box this week and produce something a little different. It’s good to go outside of your comfort zone from time to time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our students came up with some excellent ideas. Paul Sargeant took a photo of a cabbage leaf and made repeated patterns with it. Nina created children’s wallpaper which we absolutely adore. Latha Bhaduri Prabakar designed an abstract wallpaper which could easily be repeated to fill a large grand feature wall and look stunning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our feature image this week is by student Justin Robinson and you can see Justin’s initial idea of flowers on neutral background above. We felt this would be an excellent design repeated, so we have added a two repeating patterns using Justin’s design below. Aren’t they fabulous!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wallpaper I have tried to create is for a wall of the drawing room In combination with plain colours of another walls .\u00a0 I have used tapping techniques, glitter water colours for the background effects as well as Acrylic metallic colours for the leaves.

I took a close up of a cabbage leaf, converted it to B&W and then formed a pattern. I\u2019m surprising tempted to see if i can do anything with this as a wallpaper now. Although it might make the eyes go a bit funny if it\u2019s too big!
