{"id":25025,"date":"2023-02-27T16:23:14","date_gmt":"2023-02-27T16:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/?p=25025"},"modified":"2023-02-26T07:32:34","modified_gmt":"2023-02-26T07:32:34","slug":"julie-martin-molyneux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/2023\/02\/julie-martin-molyneux\/","title":{"rendered":"Julie Martin-Molyneux"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I started the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.londonartcollege.co.uk\/art-courses\/drawing-painting-diploma-course\/\">Drawing &amp; Painting Diploma<\/a> with a hope of two main things.\u00a0<br>1. as an escape from the sadness of loosing my mum to dementia, whom I had been primary carer for over the past 3 years<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. and to enjoy something for myself again&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mission accomplished.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I experienced challenges by the bucket load, but this served to help me focus my mind and accomplish things I never thought I was capable of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If only you had heard the number of times I screamed \u201cOh I just can\u2019t do this\u201d. But I did.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this I owe heartfelt thanks to Paul Weaver for his personal and detailed feedback and guidance when I reached out for help.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things I have discovered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. How satisfying working purely with pencils can be.&nbsp;<br>2. How to really look at every minute detail yet the simplest of correct marks can illustrate exactly what you see.&nbsp;<br>3. For me, oil paints still remain a complete mystery although something I will not give up on (just yet).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Despite my sheer terror of attempting to draw real people, I can actually do a half decent job!&nbsp;<br>5. My favourite part of the course, was the part I dreaded the most. People. The total satisfaction and smugness I felt at achieving a likeness was something to behold.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
