My daughter lives in China and gave me a present of a Chinese Brush Painting set, beautifully
presented in an elaborate box. Monika’s Course was the answer to \u201chow to use the set\u201d and it
brought me to a whole new dimension in my art – www.pamoconnellartist.net<\/a>

I found it very challenging as the materials themselves \u2013 ink, paper, brushes, all needed to be
understood and mastered. Practice, Experimentation and Patience helped in this. I found that when I
had difficulty in a subject, for example, dragonflies, that the more I practiced and simplified the
easier it became. The easiest paper to start with was wallpaper lining. I now use Fabriano paper as it
seems to suit the way I use the ink and the brush.

As the course progressed I found that I particularly related to Minimalism. For me to introduce
several elements and colour seemed to take away from the tranquility of the piece that I wanted to
achieve. I loved all the exercises and Monika’s feedback provided useful information and
suggestions. I humbly acknowledge that this art form is an ongoing journey of learning both
internally and externally. My goal is to keep practicing and experimenting and perfect my card
making, which I have just started, using these skills. And to be able to use rice paper!
