I kept the name in the back of my mind, not thinking that one day I would receive a diploma from LAC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"1338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/2.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/2-768x1007.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As a small girl I was always interested in art and liked looking at picture books. At the age of eight I wrote and illustrated four small books about Smurfs, Diodes (my father was an electrical engineer) and a Volcano. I didn\u2019t know then that I would like to illustrate books. Photos of the Smurfs book below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"1338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/1jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21009\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/1jpg.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/1jpg-768x1007.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past I completed an MA in Visual Arts Education in Poland (2002), and then worked for a while as a scenic artist in a music theatre. Later I moved to Scotland where I exhibited my paintings and black-and-white photographs in a spectacular old church, the Roxy Art House in Edinburgh (2005). I have also exhibited by work at the Traquair House (2005) and other places. I received a Special SSWA award from Visual Arts Scotland, and in 2007 exhibited at The Royal Scottish Academy my painting \u201cSpace\u201d and was accepted as a professional member of Visual Arts Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21011\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/16.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/16-768x277.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the year 2009 I applied to the Edinburgh College of Art and was already starting to think about illustration. I was accepted but due to family circumstances moved to Germany which cut all my artistic connections with Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/15-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21012\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/15-1.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/15-1-768x277.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Finding myself in a new reality, in a country where I would perhaps have to start over, I was asking myself how I could develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/14-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21013\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/14-1.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/14-1-768x277.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A few years later my first son was born and that kept me busy, but art was waiting and calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21010\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/12-1.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/12-1-768x501.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Around this time I received a fantastic gift of professional colour pencils. It was this that inspired me to sign up for the course \u201cIllustrating Children Books\u201d with Maggy Roberts, and to start to do art again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"826\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/11-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21014\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/11-1.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/11-1-768x622.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My second son was born as I continued the course. During this time I also worked for several years at Dresden International School in parts as an MYP Visual Arts Teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"826\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/10.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21016\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/10.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/10-768x622.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I know that due to life circumstance it took me longer to finish the course than I anticipated, but I finally succeeded and I\u2019m very proud of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"1361\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21018\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/7.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/7-768x1025.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The course with Maggy was incredible \u2014 her open minded approach to the material and her encouragement to explore new techniques inspired me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"1625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21021\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/6.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/6-768x1224.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.london-artcollege.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/6-964x1536.jpg 964w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you so much, as well London Art College. I have enjoyed taking part in weekend art challenges. I now like experimenting with new materials, techniques, and scales.
