Welcome to the results from this weekends art challenge. It was quite a tricky one this week. We asked our students to draw something using their non dominant hand. So if students were left handed, draw with the right and if right handed, draw with the left. What amazing results they have achieved! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love Lynne Bagnall’s drawing of Norm. Lynne is our featured image this week and we are so pleased that the exercise helped Lynne develop her drawing too. Well done to everyone who took part! Great job!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…. \u2018Left hand Norm\u2019 my friends dog drawn with my left hand, a quick sketch that I love, even though my left hand is aching I really want to say thanks for this challenge, as using the wrong hand finally got me to loosen up a bit.

It started out as a vase of flowers and ended as this \ud83d\ude02. But I love it, I really enjoyed this challenge. Guess my left hand draws better than it writes!

That was definitely a challenge! First, I drew with my left hand (my dominant hand is the right), and second, I never draw portraits because I can’t. I am totally amazed at the result. This is a humble homage to Leonardo da Vinci who was left-handed. Leonardo was not only a talented painter, he was also an engineer and inventor. The drawings that have survived show that he even wrote mirror-inverted, from right to left.

I’m astounded this came out as well as it did! Pencil and watercolour pencils. One of the recommended books in the Watercolour Diploma has paid off it seems. Usually trying this way of drawing makes my brain hurt. It was in fact very relaxing and enjoyable.
