\u2018Agnes Sloan Memorial Prize\u2019<\/em>\u00a0Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

Below you will find the details of our Annual \u2018Agnes Sloan Memorial Prize\u2019<\/em> Competition for 2011.\u00a0By entering, you are agreeing to illustrate and design a short children\u2019s book by the 30th<\/sup> of November 2011, to the Publisher\u2019s requirements.\u00a0 Please consider this commitment carefully to ensure that you can fulfil requirement of the whole project before entering.<\/p>\n

We believe that this represents an excellent opportunity for new illustrators to gain valuable industry experience and for one to have their work published.<\/p>\n

The Competition Image \u2013 <\/span><\/strong>\u2018Momo and the Totobrats\u2019
\n<\/span><\/em>Please provide an image depicting your vision of the following:<\/p>\n

Main Character:<\/strong>\u00a0 Momo \u2013 a little boy aged about 4 years old.
\nOther Characters:<\/strong>\u00a0 a crowd of Totobrats \u2013 all we know is that they are little people, the size of the 4 year old boy, Momo, and that they are very naughty and violent towards each other.
\nScene:<\/strong>\u00a0 Momo is floating down from the sky, holding onto a multi-coloured umbrella.\u00a0 It had been raining, but now the sky is clear and blue.\u00a0 Momo is floating towards the rampaging Totobrats, into their strange, \u201cfar away\u201d land.<\/p>\n

Entrants must email their image to: rrathbone@birkbeckhauxwell.co.uk<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 providing details of their full name, address and date of birth.<\/p>\n

All entries must be received in .pdf format by email to\u00a0rrathbone@birkbeckhauxwell.co.uk<\/a>by 7pm on Monday, 29th<\/sup>\u00a0August 2011.<\/p>\n

Illustration Requirements<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The images created for the competition must be the original, previously unpublished work of the entrant.<\/p>\n

The entrant agrees to transfer the copyright in this work to the Publisher (Birkbeck Hauxwell Publishing).<\/strong><\/p>\n

As well as being an excellent artist\/illustrator, the entrant will have to be capable of fully digitising the work to the specified standard and arranging the text\/ typesetting fonts onto the images.<\/p>\n

The images must be in colour.<\/p>\n

The images themselves can be created by any means, so long as they capable of being saved in a .pdf format.\u00a0 The finished book size will be 8.5″ x 8.5″, full colour, at least 300 dpi resolution, CMYK colour space and so the PDF spec will need to have its version compatibility set for Acrobat 6.0\/PDF V1.5 (at least), or similar.<\/p>\n
