Weekend Art Challenge Results – Pigs & Piglets!

Welcome to this week’s Weekend Art Challenge results, where we set our students the task of painting pigs and piglets. It is safe to say that this particular subject has made us smile from start to finish!

Students interpreted the theme in many different ways. Some went for realistic studies, including Rosalind’s lovely plein air sketches of rare breed pigs at a community farm, and Clare’s pencil drawings exploring everything from a boar piglet sketched on a wobbly train journey to a palaeolithic boar inspired by the cave paintings at Altamira in Spain, a reminder that pigs have been a source of artistic inspiration for a very long time indeed!

Others took a more playful approach, with Nina P bringing Piglet from Winnie the Pooh to life complete with a real piece of string for the balloon, and Ni Ni painting both a group of cheerful piggies in acrylics and an endearing line and wash scene of a piggy bank with a small boy.

Thank you to everyone who took part and brought these wonderful animals to life on the page! Stay tuned tomorrow for the next art challenge.. what will it be I wonder?!
