We are absolutely thrilled to congratulate Miriam Eisenbacher on completing the Illustrating Children’s Books Diploma Course with a wonderful Distinction!
Miriam is based in Germany and came to the course hoping to improve her skills, find her style and make illustrating a bigger part of her life. Looking at the work she has produced, we think it is safe to say she has achieved all of that and more.
The range and quality of Miriam’s illustrations is quite breathtaking. She works with equal confidence and beauty across watercolour, ink, digital painting and mixed media collage, and every piece she creates has a warmth, imagination and professional polish that is truly impressive. Her characters are utterly charming, from a little blue bear cycling along with a pink rabbit in tow, to a cheeky dragon looking rather sheepish at a burning thatched cottage, to a gloriously detailed double page spread of a tortoise surrounded by the most exquisite birds from around the world.
Her storytelling instinct is exceptional too. The moody, atmospheric “Sebastian’s Sink City” shows real cinematic vision, the moonlit rowing scene is simply magical, and her paper collage of a fox nestled in swirling autumn leaves is one of the most creative and joyful pieces we have seen in a long time.
Miriam started the course with tutor Maggie in 2023, and when Maggie retired, Paul Weaver took over the tutoring from Set 3 onwards. She has grown enormously throughout the course, and we genuinely feel she is ready to take her work into the professional world right now.
We wish Miriam every success and cannot wait to see where her illustration career takes her!
