London Art College student Andrea Cheetham has recently completed our Coloured Pencil Diploma Course, achieving a distinction, and we are delighted to share a selection of her work here on the blog today.
Andrea’s drawings demonstrate a strong level of control and observation, with careful attention paid to tone, colour, and surface texture. Her subjects range confidently across still life, natural forms, architecture, and portraiture, showing versatility and a thoughtful approach to composition. The coloured pencil work in particular stands out for its patience and layering, with subtle transitions and well-judged detail bringing each piece to life. Achieving a distinction reflects the consistency and quality of Andrea’s work throughout the course, and these pieces are a pleasure to showcase.
The Coloured Pencil Diploma Course, taught by Paul Weaver, offers students an in-depth exploration of coloured pencil as a serious and expressive medium. The course guides students through advanced techniques including layering, blending, tonal depth, and surface texture, while encouraging careful observation and strong drawing foundations. With structured tuition and detailed feedback, students are supported as they develop confidence and technical skill across a wide range of subjects. Andrea’s successful completion of the course highlights the depth of learning available and the high standard students can achieve with commitment and practice.
