Hands are one of the most expressive and trickiest parts of the human body to draw or paint. They can reveal character, emotion and movement all in one gesture. For this weekend’s challenge, we asked our students to tackle this notoriously fiddly subject… and goodness, did they rise to the occasion!
From delicate linework studies to fully realised paintings, this gallery is full of personality. Some students explored the anatomical structure of the hand, while others focused on storytelling — clasped fingers, reaching hands, even hands at work. Each piece shows confidence, experimentation, and the willingness to observe closely, which is exactly what this challenge was all about.
We hope you enjoy scrolling through the artwork and stay tuned for the next challenge tomorrow!
