Weekend Art Challenge Results – Wildlife!

Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating artwork on the subject of Wildlife! What a wonderful array of paintings and drawings this week. We particularly love Emma’s Wombat and if you scroll down the page, see if you can find the camouflaged Elephant but Dinah. Extremely clever techniques.

We hope you enjoy viewing all the beautiful pieces this week, we have another fabulous art challenge coming along tomorrow. So stay tuned!

This is an oil painting of a kingfisher that I have done for this weekend’s challenge. I’ve tried to work faster than I usually do and to not get too bogged down with detail! I started it yesterday, and finished today, hence the sheen on the photo – wet paint!!
Catherine
Lion with watercolour and white gouache on watercolour paper.

These are 2 male impalas from the Southern African bush.I drew them using pastel pencils from a bought photo. The one that seems to be drawn with one horn is not missing the other one. They are  parallel to one another so you can’t see them both in this picture.

I have drawn the heron that visits my daughter’s garden and is interested in the raised fishpond on her patio.  She took a photo last Summer.  I am just starting to learn pen and ink drawing.  The bird’s body is too big – more like an ostrich!  It was fun drawing it.
