Student Susan Cardozo has recently completed the Drawing and Painting Diploma Course, achieving a well-deserved distinction, and it is a pleasure to share her work on the blog. Susan produced a substantial and impressive body of artwork during the course, demonstrating consistency, skill, and a clear commitment to her artistic development. One series that particularly stands out is her exploration of the same tree painted across different seasons. By returning to the same subject, Susan was able to focus on atmosphere, colour shifts, light, and mood, capturing the subtle changes that occur throughout the year. The result is a thoughtful and beautifully observed set of paintings that show both technical control and artistic sensitivity. This approach reflects a confident painter who is willing to look deeper, refine ideas, and fully explore a subject rather than rushing on to the next.
The Drawing and Painting Diploma Course, taught by Paul Weaver, encourages exactly this kind of curiosity and sustained exploration.
