Weekend Art Challenge – Cats & Kittens

For our final art challenge of the year, we are keeping things fun and friendly with a theme that everyone will enjoy – Cats and Kittens!

Cats make wonderful subjects for art. They can be elegant, mysterious, playful, or mischievous – sometimes all at once! For this challenge, we would like you to create a drawing or painting of a cat.

It could be your own pet, a cat you have seen out and about, or one from a photo reference. You might choose to focus on a detailed portrait, capture a whole cat in motion, or even create a quick sketch showing their personality.

You can work in any medium you like – pencil, pastel, watercolour, acrylic, digital, or a mix. The most important thing is to enjoy observing and capturing the unique character of these much-loved animals.

Tip: Cats often have very expressive eyes and body language. Try paying extra attention to these features – a single tilt of the head, stretch of the paw, or flick of the tail can bring your artwork to life.

We are really looking forward to seeing your cat and kitten artwork and ending the penultimate weekend challenge with character, charm and cuteness!

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.

So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!

Remember to submit your artwork to us via email if you would like it posted on our blog next week.

Email your artwork to us for inclusion on the blog next week. We sometimes take challenge posts submitted to our Facebook group to add to the collection, however we may miss some, so if you really want to see your work here, make sure you email it to us!

All students can take part and they can post their artwork on our main Facebook Group to share with fellow students.
