Weekend Art Challenge – What’s in Your Fridge?

For this week’s challenge, we are heading somewhere you probably never thought we would ask about. What’s in your fridge?!

Open the door and take a good look at what is inside. You might see colourful fruit and vegetables, neatly stacked leftovers, bottles and jars in every shape and size, or perhaps a few mysterious containers whose contents are… a surprise?!

We would like you to create art on this subject. You could create a realistic still life, a quick and lively sketch, or even an imaginative composition where the fridge items take on a life of their own. Focus on colours, shapes, reflections on glass jars, or the cool, muted light inside. You might even decide to use your fridge contents to create your artwork with!!

This is a wonderful opportunity to practise composition skills, observational drawing and capturing different textures. From shiny apples to crinkled lettuce leaves. You might even discover that everyday items can become unexpectedly fascinating when you look closely.

We cannot wait to see your take on What’s in Your Fridge? Remember, any medium is welcome, from pencil to paint to digital art. Most of all – Have fun!!

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.

So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!
