Weekend Art Challenge Results Butterflies

Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating artwork on the subject of butterflies. Students could choose any style or medium and have a bit of fun with the theme.

The artwork we received has been so varied and very daintily painted and drawn which fits the delicate butterfly theme. Students have used lots of different mediums and styles which is what we like to see. We have to give a mention to Nina who created a cut out with black paper and coloured tissue paper. Perfect to put on a window to let the light through. Beautiful and such a lovely idea for this weeks challenge.

Thank you to everyone who took part. We really enjoy seeing your work each week. A new weekend challenge will be posted tomorrow.

This butterfly was drawn with ink and watercolor.

For this challenge, I’ve made the painting like a sketchbook entry, using pen and ink and watercolour. It is made from a photo I took of the moth on a bush in my garden. I mostly saw it resting, but when it flew, I was able to see its red underwings to be able to identify it. The red is a warning to predators that it is poisonous to eat!
