Lisa Dickson

We are delighted to feature the beautifully detailed work of Lisa Dickson, a student currently studying on the Botanical Painting Diploma Course with us here at the London Art College.

Lisa’s final assignment showcases her technical ability and growing confidence across a range of plant subjects, from florals to heritage fruits and crops. The pieces include a striking red and yellow Zea mays (heritage corn), a vibrant Tulipa ‘Glasnost’ (parrot tulip), a detailed study of Malus domestica ‘Court Pendu Plat’ (apple), and a delicately rendered Anemone coronaria ‘The Admiral’.

In her own words, Lisa challenged herself with the more complex forms and textures of fruit and vegetables, pushing beyond her preference for florals. Her work reflects a strong grasp of layering techniques, tonal control, and compositional awareness – skills that the Botanical Painting Diploma Course is designed to nurture.

Our course is ideal for students looking to build botanical illustration skills with a focus on accuracy, colour theory, and traditional watercolour methods. Whether you’re aiming to work professionally or simply deepen your enjoyment of the subject, you can find full course details and enrolment information on the course page. Well done to Lisa for such a stunning set of work for her final assignment.
