Number 8 in our Christmas countdown today is a fantastic painting by Marily Valkijainen.
We are starting our Christmas Countdown today! If you are a member of ‘The Common Room‘ (our student forum ) you may have recently seen our request for Christmas related artwork to add to our blog this festive season. This year we have received not one, but 11 Christmasy pieces of artwork! So we decided a Christmas countdown featuring a seasonal image every day would be a superb idea.
To start the christmas countdown we have added below a beautiful wintery image painted by Dawn Treacher, one of of our students studying with Maggy Roberts on the Illustrating Children’s books follow on course.
Stay tuned for tomorrows image on day 10!
London Art College Drawing and Painting Diploma tutor Paul Weaver has won 1st prize in the ‘Steak of the Art Harbourside Art Prize 2014’.
The competition was run by the Harbourside Art Centre in Bristol and was designed to offer artists a unique opportunity to capture the charm of Bristol’s vibrant and historic Harbourside. The highly original restaurant ‘Steak of the Art’ sponsored the first prize.
Paul submitted three paintings for the competition and was delighted to hear that his watercolour ‘Dockland Vista, Bristol’ had been chosen for the award (see below).
An exhibition of selected entries is now running at the Harbourside Art Centre, Millennium Promenade, Harbourside, Bristol, BS1 5TY until the end of December.
Students who study with Alan Dedman on the Landscape Diploma have a chance to observe and practice painting and drawing clouds and sky. This is a superb subject to experiment with, it is a forever changing scene and its always accessible for students to draw or paint! Here Hamzah Ahmad has used oil paint on canvas to convey the sky’s texture and colours which we absolutely love. Have you painted the sky? If you have why not share it on our Facebook page today!
