Amelia Whiffin

Amelia Whiffin who studied on the Coloured Pencil course completed this superb drawing of her cat Amber. The colours and depth of tones here are superb, congratulations Amelia on a beautiful piece.

In general it can be tricky to create deep tones using coloured pencil and a lot of artists try not to use black at all, or if they are using it, they mix it with other colours. If you are experimenting with your coloured pencils try using dark greens, dark blues and rich browns to create your dark tones as it can often add more depth to your work.

Kerry kept her dad’s promise and the book is now published and on sale. You can read about our continuing journey on our Facebook Page.

Linda Brughera’s Artwork

Linda Brughera  from Madrid, studied with Julie Douglas on the Coloured Pencil Course. Linda has very kindly emailed us her two favourite pieces from the course and written a little about them below. We think that Linda’s artwork is absolutely fabulous and her coloured pencil techniques are superb! We wish Linda all the best in her future pieces.

I enclose two of the pieces I did for the Coloured Pencil Course which I consider my favourites – especially because I love dogs and food. “Hugo” the dog was drawn on Canson-Mi Teintes Black paper and the “Maria” cookie was done on illustration board. I mostly used Polychromos (Faber Castell) and Pablos (Caran D’Ache). I think these exercises I did for Julie’s course just show how much I loved and enjoyed this medium. Amazing teacher! Thanks for everything.

Joanne’s Success….

We have just received this wonderful email and artwork from Joanne Taylor who completed the Drawing and Painting Diploma. It has been lovely hearing from Joanne again and we are thrilled that she is doing so well. We hope our students enjoy viewing Joanne’s artwork below.

I just wanted to send you this email as it’s been 2 years this month since I completed the painting and drawing course with London art college and I wanted to show some of my work that is proudly hanging in my little garden studio.

I try all sorts of painting but my love is acrylics and I think I found my style now as I stand back and look at my work, bright and not too realistic – more decorative painting.

So I just thought I’d email you as you were my first real stepping stone and I’m even more obsessed with painting now than I was 2 years ago!!
