One of our students had been inspired by Van Gogh and has created a wonderful interpretation of his sunflowers painting. This is a superb warm and inviting rendition of this painting.
This painting of a butterfly was so colourful, warm and inviting I felt it would look great on our blog. It has the Colleges blue colours in too! This is a piece of work from the Drawing and Painting Diploma. This course offers such a wide variety within the course there is always a piece of artwork that’s completely new and different to showcase here.
This drawing was submitted into last years student of the year competition and was short-listed into the top 13. The student drew this still life as part of her Pet Portraits Diploma for the drawing and observation unit which she has just submitted for critique. I felt it was well worthy of a blog post!
Today’s picture is of a still life drawing a students completed for the Pet Portrait Diploma Course. Learning to draw is most important and creating a still life like this tackling all the different textures is a wonderful challenge and this student has triumphed! I hope this inspires you to pick up your pencil!

We are delighted to announce that entries are now open for St Wilfrid’s 2010 Open Art Competition. Visit the website at www.openart.stwh.co.uk for full details. We are, again, privileged to be working with Pallant House Gallery and selected works from the submissions will be exhibited there during the month of June. Last year we raised over £6500 for the Hospice, with over 250 fantastic art works entered by 164 artists, and we hope 2010 will be even bigger and better! Please forward this email to friends, who may also be interested in applying, and help us spread the word. You can also join our event on facebook here where you can keep up-to-date with information about the competition and exhibition.
Please contact us if you need any help – we look forward to seeing all of your brilliant entries.
