The Art Room

Donations needed – can you help?

The Art Room was founded by Juli Beattie in Oxford in 2002 to address the needs of children who were not coping at school. Having worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital she realised that art as therapy could also nurture children with challenging behaviour in schools.

The Art Room now works with children and young people between the ages of 5 and 15 from 7 schools in Oxfordshire and 6 in London. Most of the students are disengaged from mainstream education, disruptive or withdrawn and all have been identified as needing special time away from their school. Many of the students have specific learning difficulties or have had an interrupted education. In addition, The Art Room has carried out a further government funded pilot project in Nottingham in order to test out models that could be used across the education system to help these disenfranchised and often desperate children.

If you are able to donate any work to this cause please contact Juli below.

The Auction will take place on Tuesday 8th December. Viewing during the day from 10am-6pm at Parasol Unit.
